Eight Strings & a Whistle translates into innovative programming, stirring music and some of the most memorable performances you’ll hear. Our repertoire features the unique combination of flute, viola and cello and draws from a wide range of sources –– there are works from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods, as well as pieces composed expressly for us. You can hear us on our debut recording, Albert's Window, released on Ravello Records in 2015. Our goal for every program is to create a whole that is intriguing, exciting and engaging. We invite you to explore this site, listen to our sound clips, watch our videos, read about our composers and learn more about us.
We are so excited to be posting this interview with our latest featured composer, Merrill Clark. We'll be performing Merrill's Sinfonia Ternion Gestalt at the Tenri Cultural Institute on November 18. Please enjoy reading about Merrill's creative process and be sure come out to hear and meet him on November 18!
It's official. We have accepted an invitation to perform at the Festival for Contemporary Music, Festival de la Habana! Yes, as in Havana, Cuba! This coming November, we'll be headed for warmer weather to perform contemporary works by American composers and to give a workshop for Cuban students. We couldn't be more excited!
