The Festival on New American Music (FeNAM) is held annually at Sac State School of Music. This November, the 10 day festival celebrated its 41st year. We were thrilled and honored to have been invited to participate, performing concerts, master classes and more.
Jorge Amado, New Featured Composer!
Meet Jorge Amado, our next featured composer and the winner of the first 8SW Composer Competition!
Jorge Amado is currently a student at ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte) in Havana, Cuba. His submission to the competition, Eidos II, is a very well crafted, powerful and energetic example of the potential future of chamber music. The work is influenced by Afro-Cuban rhythms and the folkloric ensembles used for Santería ceremonial music. We're very excited to be presenting the winning composition from our first 8SW Composer Competition at this year's Tenri concert. The work, Eidos II is by the young Cuban composer Jorge Amado. If we're lucky, we'll be able to introduce you to Jorge as well!
We're also thrilled to be bringing the West Coast to you again with works by Stephen Blumberg, Mark Winges and Tom Flaherty. More info coming soon.

Congratulations to the winners of our first 8SW Composer Competition!
We are very pleased to share that Jorge Amado has received first place for his work Eidos II.
Daniel Lemer received second place for Who Knows?, Leon Yu received third place for The Lovely, The Mighty and The Glorious and David Gobris received an honorable mention for Seasons Out of Order.

This year's concert, a few weeks early, includes Red and White, a new work by Spencer Snyder and the premiere of Tom Griffin's Where Three Roads Meet. Additionally, we will be performing Douglas Anderson's Chamber Symphony No. 3, Peter Köszeghy's haunting Souls and a charming trio by Mozart's contemporary, Paul Wranitzky.

8SW Composer Competition!
We are thrilled to be announcing the first 8SW Compoer Competition! To learn more please go to our 8SW Composer Competition page.
We are committed to performing and expanding the repertoire for the unique combination of flute, viola and cello, and have been collaborating regularly with a wide roster of living composers from North and South America and Europe since our beginning. This competition is an extension of our desire to promote chamber music for flute, viola and cello, as well as encourage the writing of contemporary chamber music in general.
It's official. We have accepted an invitation to perform at the Festival for Contemporary Music, Festival de la Habana! Yes, as in Havana, Cuba! This coming November, we'll be headed for warmer weather to perform contemporary works by American composers and to give a workshop for Cuban students. We couldn't be more excited!

Warren as well as performing other works by Octavio Vazquez, Béla Bartók and Josef Mysliwecek. Following the concert, the party will continiue with a reception. We hope to see all of you there!

We are thrilled to be celebrating the release of Albert's WIndow on Ravello Records at the Tenri Cultural Institute. We are equally as excited to be presenting a program which includes the premiere of Frank E. Warren’s beautiful and delicate for: 8 Strings & a Whistle, and Octavio Vazquez’sTrio for Flute, Viola and Cello. Completed in 2003, Vazquez’s Trio expresses emotional extremes from languid sadness to biting sarcasm to brutal devastation. Rounding out the program will be a charming work by eighteenth century composer, Josef Mysliwecek and Béla Bartók’s earthy and rollicking Romanian Folk Dances.

We're looking forward to presenting the world premiere of Peri Mauer’sThought’s Torsion, a work inspired by the energy generated from the twisting and spiraling of human thoughts and emotions. We're also excited to be performing Martin Rokeach’sGoing Up? and Scott Brickman’sFrench Suite, both composed for Eight Strings & a Whistle.
Peri, Marty and Scott will be joining us, so be sure to come and meet them!
Mark Winges’ Dusk Music II, Albert Roussel’s Trio, Op. 40 and the music of classical composer Paul Wranitzky will round out the program.

PARMA Recordings has embraced the recording industry of the 21st century and we are looking forward to working with them. The next several months will be spent recording and producing, working towards releasing the album on PARMA's label in January, 2016.
