Meet Jorge Amado, our next featured composer and the winner of the first 8SW Composer Competition!
We’re very excited to be giving the World Premiere of Jorge’s Eidos II at the Tenri Cultural Instituteon November 16!
Jorge Amado is currently a student at ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte) in Havana, Cuba. His submission to the competition, Eidos II, is a very well crafted, powerful and energetic example of the potential future of chamber music. The work is influenced by Afro-Cuban rhythms and the folkloric ensembles used for Santería ceremonial music. Please do join us at the Tenri Cultural Institute on November 16, 2018 for the World Premiere of Eidos II.

We are committed to performing and expanding the repertoire for the unique combination of flute, viola and cello, and have been collaborating regularly with a wide roster of living composers from North and South America and Europe since our beginning. This competition is an extension of our desire to promote chamber music for flute, viola and cello, as well as encourage the writing of contemporary chamber music in general.
